What we do

1) Operational monitoring & analysis of disinformation

Our team monitors & analyses disinformation stories on daily basis, looking at trends, exposing it in selected cases and conducting fact-checking and myth-busting in the public debate. We often find an important disinformation, or identify evolving disinformation incident, so we alert the national press or government authorities.

2) Weekly reports on Czech disinformation samples to the EEAS Disinformation Review

Our team is the most active contributor of the EEAS East STRATCOM network, which produces the Disinformation Review. We have reported in hundreds of disinformation samples and thanks to our efforts, the Czech disinformation community is one of the most well researched in Europe.

3) Specific case studies on disinformation cases

Our specialists with specialization on Ukraine, Russia, local disinformation community, IT or security issues conduct brief case studies on specific relevant cases. Our aim is to point out particular phenomenon, trend or method which is best understandable when going into details. Those products are called Kremlin Watch Reports. All of our public reports are available at www.kremlinwatch.eu

1) Bi-weekly Kremlin Watch Monitor to keep the European policy community updated

Since early 2016, our team produces the Kremlin Watch Monitor.  The bi-weekly 5-7 page product consists of reports on suggested expert studies, countering efforts around allied institutions, and best expert commentaries of the week. It is regularly received by more than 5500 policy analysts and practitioners across NATO countries.

2) Development & advising for democratic policy responses on tactical and strategic level

Our team dedicates significant capacities to developing policy responses democratic states should employ to counter hostile disinformation activities of foreign powers. We are the official consulting body for Czech Interior Ministry within Czech Review of National Security. Czech Republic is setting up a new Hybrid Threat Centre on basis of one of our recommendations. In 2016, German Federal Academy for Security Policy tasked us with developing policy recommendations as a follow-up to “Lisa Case”. Our experts advise Members of Parliament, allied security forces & intelligence agencies on informal basis. Since 2016, out team was asked to deliver briefings in 15+ countries from Washington D.C. to Singapore. Our team has been also providing skill or knowledge trainings for various government authorities.

3) Educational activities for general public & trainings for practitioners

Our experts talk at public debates, lectures at workshops for students, teachers, or journalists. We cooperate with schools in the region on public lectures on this topic, which is part of the Educational Program of the European Values Think-Tank.

4) Public and behind-close door advocacy for awareness of disinformation efforts in media and on policy-makers level

We have been advocating for counter-disinformation efforts to be taken as serious security threat. As of spring 2016, all of Czech security-related cabinet ministers share that Kremlin-orchestrated disinformation efforts need to be seriously countered. Our experts speak to major media outlets on weekly basis. Kremlin Watch Program is the most influential body in this area in the Czech Republic. Our work has been covered by major media such as Politico, France 24, or the New York Times.

5) We run the Putin’s Champion Award

Given the fact we are a non-governmental institution, we have put together an International Expert Jury which several times a month appoints the satirical Putin’s Champion Award, which is given to a Western public figure which has helped the Kremlin’s interests the most.

1) We organize various online & offline platforms for the Czech and European community for countering this threat

In recent years, we have organized numerous events or run continuous platforms for updates sharing among Czech and among European policy or journalistic communities.

2) We hold the best European purely specialized event on countering disinformation – the STRATCOM SUMMIT

Since 2016, we hold a regular conference, which is dedicated only to countering hostile foreign influence and disinformation operations – the STRATCOM SUMMIT. It welcomes 200+ government and non-governmental specialists on this topic for practical lessons-sharing, trainings and briefings.
